Preschool Co op Meeting

Last Wednesday, August 13th, I had the pleasure of attending the summer Preschool Co op Meeting at Miss Karla's home. I want to thank Karla, Marilyn and Chris for the invitation. Wow! Between the 4 of us there was over 45 years of experience teaching preschool. I am so glad to have this resource, so, Thank You Ladies for sharing!!! It was a great morning.

Each day I become more anxious for the school year to begin. I have the calenders and most curriculum ready for each month this fall. One of my daughters was here this past weekend, and she helped me put up some posters on the walls and ready the preschool space for students. Thanks Stacy!

Here are a few questions I have been asked so far:

What age children? I am wanting to keep my Tuesday and Thursday class to 4 year olds. But because I have had several inquiries about 3 year olds, I am now adding a Wednesday morning class for 3 year olds....please email me if you are interested in this class.

How many children in the class? The limit will be 10 children.

How much do you charge? The tuition is $60.00 a month, and a $60.00 registration fee, which will include all supplies for the year. One package of wet wipes is all the student is asked to provide. (call me about a group discount rate (2 or more students)) (Wednesday class will be a little less, email me)

What is your phone number so I can ask more questions? Just email me and I will send my phone number to you, or email your phone number to me and I will call you to talk!

Can I come over and meet you/see the preschool space? Certainly! I am glad to have Moms and students stop by and meet with you, again, send me an email and I will make arrangements to meet with you and your student!

Email me and I will answer any questions you might have.

Thanks, Teresa Johnson

Getting ready to begin...

I have spent the last few days looking over dozens of files of my preschool lessons plans from past years. It has made me so excited to teach again soon and sparked some new ideas!

My philosophy for teaching preschool is to help these children love to be at preschool with friends and their teacher and to LOVE to learn new things. Some of the things I will teach them are alphabet recognition and sounds... using the Zoo Phonics Program, shapes and colors, weather and seasons, wonderful information about this World (as in Smart World Preschool), numbers, about their individual uniqueness, a unit on friends and family , and many other things for kindergarten readiness. I will use art, music and roll playing, as well as reading to them, along with other mediums. I want them to feel confident in themselves and respectful of others by the time our school year together is over.

Just really ready for Kindergarten!

We will start on September 8th, Tuesday. I will fill a morning class from 9:30 to 11:30 first, then if I have requests for afternoon, it would be from 1:00 to 3:00. Please email me (address on sidebar) for some additional information. I will be glad to call you and visit, and send you the information needed to register. Smart World Preschool will follow the district 91 schedule, except for starting and ending dates.

It will be a great 2009-2010 school year! I can't wait!

A little about me...

This is a little about me, Teresa Johnson. First, I love my family. I have a son and 2 daughters. They all attended schools here in Idaho Falls. I spent many hours at their schools, especially during grade school with volunteering in classrooms. I was a PTA vice president at Longfellow grade school and always a room mom. I also worked for a Jostens Scholastic Sales Rep. for several years and have been in most schools in Southeast Idaho working with students and administration. For 4 years I owned and taught a preschool in my home when my kids were in high school and junior high. I LOVED IT! I am so excited to again have the opportunity to teach sweet preschool children for the 2009-2010 school year.

I have 2 amazing granddaughters and they have helped remind me how much JOY I found in teaching and spending time with little children. I miss the challenge of teaching, and feeling the joy when children make new discoveries... watching their eyes light up with happiness and knowledge!

Here is a picture of my sweet 2 1/2 year old granddaughter Avery and her Mom. We went to the mall for a "horsey ride". Love this funny and sweet granddaughter. She is giving Grandma a wave!

This is a picture of my 16 month old granddaughter. She is so smart and the sweetest little girl. We are so glad she is ours! Quincy is our always happy girl.

Here is a few seconds of our new 4th of July morning traditions...dancing to Neil Diamond, Wayne's Waffles Brunch and letting balloons go to Heaven for their Grandpa. I love my girls!
